In 2017, the parent company of Nutella, Ferrero teamed up with advertising agency Ogilvy and Mather Italia to run a project called Nutella Unica. During this campaign, they used AI and created an algorithm to design unique individual packaging. The algorithm accessed a database containing dozens of patterns and colors, generating a staggering seven million unique versions of Nutella’s graphic identity.

In hopes of filtering through resumes to find the best possible employee candidates, Amazon used an AI-powered recruiting tool. According to Reuters, things went south when it was discovered that the AI was returning discriminatory results that were gender-biased for software developer jobs and other technical postings.
It seemed, that the AI model utilized had been trained to evaluate candidates by analyzing patterns in resumes submitted to the company over a period of ten years. Most of those resumes were from male candidates as the tech field is a male-dominant sector. (Only 33% of women make up the tech-related workforce.)

One of the answers said that the JWST telescope was used to take the very first pictures of a planet outside our solar system in 2023. This was completely untrue and astronomers on Twitter quickly jumped to defend this claim made by Bard. It seems that there were photos taken of planets outside our solar system as early as 2004 according to NASA.
Again, it’s a classic example of how improper data training can render catastrophic results. It also shows how you shouldn’t take AI-generated content at face value. And for big brands like Google where the world is watching it becomes an avenue for being a laughing stock.
